Social and digital-learning centers in Senegal
The Air Liquide Foundation is supporting the Centre d’Ecoute et d’Encadrement pour un Développement Durable (CEEDD) in its efforts to promote education and instruction for young people in Thiès, a town located 70 km east of Dakar. Specifically, the CEEDD is seeking to upgrade its social and digital-learning centers, so that young people will have access to New Information and Communication Technologies (NICTs).
Promoting the development of education
Education is considered to be a fundamental factor in reducing poverty. The CEEDD's goal is to instill young people with a sense of confidence and self-assurance. As such, the CEEDD's project seeks to upgrade its social and educational center, which is frequented by elementary, middle, and high school students from Thiès. As demand continues to increase, it is becoming vital for the CEEDD to bolster the center's human and material resources.
The CEEDD is looking to improve its facilities in order to diversify its educational offering and promote New Information and Communication Technologies.

Giving students the tools to learn
The CEEDD's physical resources, including computer equipment and publications made available to users, are currently outdated. The personnel on hand are far too few to handle the growing demand. By purchasing new literary and scientific publications and replacing its computer equipment, the CEEDD can ensure that students have various types of educational resources at their disposal. In addition, the NICTs provided will be a good supplement to their education at school.
