Burkina Faso - Zinado 2000

Extension of Daguintoèga school to 6 classrooms

The Fondation Air Liquide supports the Zinado 2000 association in the construction of 2 new classrooms in the Daguintoèga school for the 200 pupils currently divided between only 4 classrooms.

A project to promote access to education and equality

In 2015, Zinado 2000 was asked by the mayor of Zorgho to build a school in the remote village of Daguintoèga, 20km from the village. An initial construction of 3 classrooms and accommodation for teachers was carried out to open the school. A school canteen, a well and a market gardening were then added to complement and vary the children's meals.

Over 200 pupils at the Daguintoèga school.

Expanding the school : an essential challenge for education

Above 80 pupils, a school must have 6 classes to ensure the standard primary cycle (CP1, CP2, CE1, CE2, CM1, CM2). Unfortunately, the school currently has over 200 pupils in just 4 classrooms.

These three new classrooms are therefore essential, as they allow the support of all village's children.

2 additional classes

84% of pupils obtained the Certificat d'Études Primaires (Primary School Certificate) in 2023

Over 50% of pupils concerned are girls

To monitor the projects, the association, in partnership with the local authorities, is setting up a local committee. The project is divided into two stages: the first concerns the construction of the two classrooms, followed by the equipping of the classrooms.

The school will then be managed by the local authorities, who will be responsible for its maintenance and the salaries of the teachers.

The Air Liquide Foundation’s support

The Air Liquide Foundation is supporting the construction of 2 classrooms (earthworks, construction of infrastructures) and the equipment of these classrooms (desks, chairs, lockers...).

The sponsor of this project is the Manufacturing & Process Key Accounts Manager at Air Liquide France Industrie.

I'm very supportive of this project. The construction of these two classrooms will enable the regular recruitment of school-age children from the village of Daguintoèga. The pupils will remain in their family environment and continue their schooling with rigorous monitoring by their parents, which will ensure a good success rate at school.
