“What have we learned about Covid-19?”, a special Air Liquide Foundation event

On September 24, the Air Liquide Foundation brought together six research teams working on Covid-19 in the conference hall of the Paris Innovation Campus. With the Foundation's scientific committee and Air Liquide researchers in attendance, these teams presented their work and exchanged ideas with their peers.

The Air Liquide Foundation supports fundamental research on respiratory diseases, keeping close to the research teams it finances, while relying on Group’s experts to select and monitor projects.

Right at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Foundation reached out to its scientific partners to understand their needs and offer its support. By rapidly releasing exceptional funding, it has financed altogether 11 research projects focused on 3 areas: 

• how the virus is transmitted & impacts the lung function,
• identifying the biomarkers that will predict the disease’s evolution, 
• and understanding the long-term effects of the disease on human organisms. 

The seminar showed how much progress these projects have already made  -  also benefiting other respiratory diseases - as well as how much work remains to be done around this new disease. 

The event was a great success with our guests, hinting in particular at future cooperation between them. The discussions also helped the Foundation identify the evolving  needs of researchers, which it will strive to meet in 2022.
