Physical activities for low-income senior citizens in Germany

Fitness equipments for a retirement home in Frankfurt

The Air Liquide Foundation provides support to the Foundation Johanna Kirchner Stiftung which manages retirement homes for low-income senior citizens.

An aging population in Germany

The German population is getting older. Currently, 25% of Germans are over the age of 60. Taking care of their changing needs, maintaining their independence, and helping them stay in good physical shape are major challenges.

Fitness equipment for residents of the August Stunz Zentrum retirement home

the Foundation Johanna Kirchner Stiftung manages several retirement homes for low-income senior citizens. It has decided to help the August Stunz Zentrum retirement home acquire fitness equipment to help its 200 residents stay in good physical shape and maintain a minimum degree of freedom of movement. These exercise bikes work the arms and the shoulders, are highly beneficial for the heart, and help improve breathing. They will be set up outdoors to encourage seniors to exercise in the open air. Finally, they will be designed so as to be accessible to people in wheelchairs.

The Air Liquide Foundation's involvement

The Air Liquide Foundation has funded the purchase of four arm exercise bikes for residents of the August Stunz Zentrum retirement home.
