Germany has taken in several hundred thousand refugees since 2015. The German government finances language lessons at the end of the asylum procedure, once refugee status has been granted. However, the procedure can sometimes take over a year and social integration is impossible without mastering the language.
These lessons enable asylum seekers to start learning German soon after their arrival in the country, thereby improving their confidence, and allowing them to communicate more easily in their everyday lives, and therefore to better integrate their host country. As part of this project, the association offers two hours of German lessons per week for ten weeks. The Federal Bureau of Immigration and Refugees allows experienced teachers to teach at the association.
The Air Liquide Foundation is supporting the ASG Bildungsforum by financing the teachers’ work, as well as the educational resources and the cost of renting the premises.
