Fighting against youngsters dropping out of middle school

in Priority Education Zones in Île-de-France

The Air Liquide Foundation is taking part in the action of the association Energie Jeunes in its fight against middle school students dropping out in Priority Education Zones in Île-de-France. Its action is based on the intervention of Air Liquide employee volunteers, who are holding awareness-raising sessions for middle school students.

Remotivating students dropping out of middle school

It action mainly concerns the intervention of volunteer company employees
Main goal: making youngsters believe in their own learning ability, to fully invest themselves in their education and to develop good study habits in order to exploit their potential even further.  One-hour training sessions several times a week are held. The animation teams are composed of one expert from Energie Jeunes and one external participant. 
Moreover, Energie Jeunes was selected in 2014 among 15 top citizens’ initiatives by the call for projects «la France s’engage » (website in French only).

A project extended on a national scale

Created in 2009, Energie Jeunes is an association that fights against young people dropping out of school by working in middle schools in areas classified as Priority Education Zones in Île-de-France. 

Currently, it mainly intervenes in: 

221 middle schools

in 13 regional education authorities

90 middle schools

schools that belong to the Paris regional's education authorities

55,675 students

in over 2000 classes were trained in 2015-2016

The Air Liquide Foundation’s participation

Energie Jeunes called on the Air Liquide Foundation to help it work in these new schools, notably in Val-de-Marne. The Foundation is financing training and the publication of pedagogic materials given to the Air Liquide employee volunteers taking part in the approach.

Awarded at the Air Liquide Foundation Awards 2016
