Bruchstrasse center in Düsseldorf houses around 100 refugees. They mostly get around by foot, since they can't afford private cars or even to use public transportation. This situation limits how far they can travel, as well as hampering their integration and personal fulfillment.
The aim of this project is to enable refugees staying at Bruchstrasse center to get around independently on bikes; a cheap mode of transportation that is ideal for getting around town. It is a very simple idea with a real impact, giving refugees autonomy, facilitating their integration and enabling them to discover their new surroundings more easily.
The Air Liquide Foundation is supporting Flingern mobil e.V by financing the acquisition of 24 bikes, as well as locks and helmets.
