In order to help many orphans or disadvantaged children in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province (southern Vietnam), the Air Liquide Foundation is contributing its support to the creation of the Long Hai social protection center. It is both a living and learning center for disadvantaged children.
Jointly initiated by the local authorities and the “Pour les Enfants des Rizières” and the “Enfance Avenir Partenariat Vietnam” associations, the construction of the Long Hai social protection center will make it possible to house and feed about a hundred abandoned children, monitor their health and provide them with healthcare and schooling or offer them professional training.
Started in November 2008 and scheduled over three years, the center’s construction will comprise:
- 2 dormitories for 60 children and 30 toddlers,
- 4 classrooms,
- 1 multimedia room and 1 library,
- 1 administrative building for management offices and the infirmary,
- 1 building for staff housing,
- 1 multipurpose room for play or educational activities…
The Air Liquide Foundation will contribute to this project by providing its support to the construction and fitting out of the infirmary and the multimedia room.
This new social protection center is a pilot initiative that could be carried out in other locations in the Ba Ria-Vung Tau province depending on the results obtained in Long Hai.
