Creation of a team of volunteers with the Association Astrée 

The Air Liquide Foundation is helping, by supporting the Association Astrée, to setting up a team of volunteers in Ronchin (north of France) to accompany and support the families that have a member who suffers from an illness.

Astrée LogoThe purpose of the Association Astrée is to accompany people who are having social or personal difficulties (unemployment or family separation, illness, mourning, etc.) through volunteers trained in being responsive and accompanying the person and his or her family, supervised by a professional from the Association. Astrée’s objective is to restore the person’s social link and to fight against isolation.

The city of Ronchin and its social action communal center asked Astrée to set up an action to help these families, called “natural helpers”, in their daily life with the family member who suffers from an illness.

The Association, in partnership with the Air Liquide Foundation, is currently creating this new action in Ronchin. In the longer term, it will organize training days for these “natural helpers” as well as talk groups that will meet regularly.
