The Air Liquide foundation is supporting the creation of a treatment center for sleep pathologies in Haiphong in northern Vietnam.
The objective of the Association Franco-vietnamienne de Pneumologie (AFVP), created on the initiative of Dr. Jean-Paul Homasson, a lung specialist, is to promote medical exchanges between French and Vietnamese healthcare structures and to carry out clinical, fundamental and therapeutic research in lung diseases and thoracic surgery. It also provides material aid to Vietnamese medical institutions in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with respiratory ailments.
In Vietnam, the prevalence of sleep pathologies (sleep apnea, insomnia, etc.) has constantly increased whereas current resources for their screening and treatment are largely insufficient. In this context, the Air Liquide Foundation is working with the AFVP on a project to create a new treatment unit for sleep pathologies by financing medical equipment. The idea will also be to carry out a skills transfer between French doctors who are sleep specialists and local doctors.
