Continuation of an awareness-raising workshop on sustainable development for disadvantaged Slovak children

After the success of the pilot awareness-raising workshop on sustainable development for disadvantaged children launched by the Franco-Slovak association “Les Enfants du Danube”, the Air Liquide Foundation renewed its support for the operation in the summer of 2010.

Every year, the association organizes a short stay in the midst of nature, in August, near Duchonka, located in the Slovak mountains, for 60 Slovak children who come from disadvantaged milieus.

Alternating workshops and entertaining lectures moderated by an ecologist and experts from the Tatry National Park, the stay’s program focuses on subjects such as: awareness-raising on energy savings, waste sorting, introduction to the respect for nature, forest and lake-cleaning operations… But there are also lectures on climate, energy, biodiversity and even on the ethics of sustainable development.

A word from the sponsor:
Miriam Fabova, Safety, Quality, Environment Manager, Air Liquide Slovakia

“The association planned an intensive program for children on the discovery of sustainable development. The idea was to learn about the issue through games, which children generally like.
The association Les Enfants du Danube is well-established in Slovakia. It does not work exclusively in Bratislava, the capital, but also in the rest of the country, which is very positive.”
