In 2008, the Air Liquide Foundation took part in creating a Hydrogen space at the Palais de la Découverte in Paris.
Faced with the constant increase in energy demand and climate change, energy policies have been put in place to better use energy and economize it by limiting CO2 emissions and by developing alternative energy sources. One of the major challenges of the upcoming years is to enable everyone to have permanent access to the energy he or she needs while respecting and preserving the environment. Hydrogen is one of the solutions to meeting this challenge. Used in a fuel cell, it products electricity in a clean and silent way.

A partner of this permanent exhibition, the Air Liquide supplied and installed a 400 W hydrogen fuel cell, an innovation that is the brainchild of Axane, an Air Liquide Group subsidiary. This hydrogen fuel cell is indispensable for the daily demonstrations done by the scientific teams at the Palais de la Découverte. Air Liquide experts trained these scientific teams in how to use and handle this cell.
The Palais de la Découverte in Paris in its “Hydrogen” space presents the technologies that use this gas to make the public aware of alternative energies. From a educational viewpoint, visitors can therefore better understand the production, distribution and use techniques of hydrogen through hands-on exhibits, vehicle tests, demonstrations, films and lectures.
