Eight months after the project’s launch, in early 2009, Mamadou Ndiaye, the sponsor of the “Setting up agroforestry systems in Ghana” project, went to the Jasikan region 300 km north of Accra (Ghana) to meet the farmers involved in this action and to see what progress had been made.

The Pro-Natura association rolled out its agroforestry project on three sites in the region: Teteman, Bodada and Baika. The Air Liquide Foundation is involved in the Teteman and Bodada sites. After meeting the project’s leaders, Mamdou Ndiyae noted:
the projects have made visible progress, the farmers showed me the equipment bought thanks to the Air Liquide Foundation’s grant. At this stage, over 8,600 trees have been planted. Nearly 10,000 more will be planted soon. Moreover, these farmers are very aware of the benefits of agroforestry practices on biodiversity and their quality of life.
