Creation of a multimedia studio in Lyons to help young people in their job search

The Air Liquide Foundation is supporting the association Sport dans la Ville in Lyons, which helps the insertion of young people from difficult neighborhoods.

Created in 1998, the aim of the association Sport dans la Ville is to help with the social and professional insertion of young people from difficult neighborhoods in Lyons. To do so, it has an educational program rolled out in 20 sports centers and each week, 2,800 children and young people, from 7 to 20 years old, play soccer and basketball free of charge. Sports help them to acquire values such as respect, team spirit, regularity, politeness, etc. They are accompanied by educators who form a relationship of proximity over the long term with the youngsters’ families and schools.

Finding jobs is a major problem for young people from these neighborhoods. That is why the association has developed the program “Job dans la Ville”, intended to promote training and professional insertion in a company for youngsters from age 14 and up. Eighty percent of those registered in the program find a training program or job upon completion.

In order to permit these young people looking for jobs or creating their own business to develop their communication capacities and their personal presentation, the association created a multimedia studio in September 2011. It is a pedagogic tool for the 350 young people taking part in the “Job dans la Ville” program.

The Air Liquide Foundation contributed to equipping this studio where young people can be trained in sound and images and the complete editing of sound and video sequences on the latest computer equipment.
